Promote Thyroid Awareness in Your Community!

Dear Member:

January is Thyroid Awareness Month, and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) are encouraging women who are considering pregnancy or are already pregnant to have their thyroid checked. Doing so can help ensure the safe delivery of a healthy child. AACE is again working with the American Thyroid Association for this year’s campaign, but we need your help to promote the importance of a healthy thyroid in your local community.

To help you do this, we have developed this downloadable kit with helpful tips to promote the presentation in your community. A customizable PowerPoint® presentation is also available to download and use at your convenience.

This website provides a wealth of information including up-to-date thyroid information, an assessment test, “the top 10 things you should know about your thyroid” and also a list of things “every mother should know.”

In this resource kit, you will find tips, background information and resources to customize your local outreach efforts. You are encouraged to contact the local media to garner interest for potential press coverage for Thyroid Awareness Month. Physicians living domestically that would like to receive neck check cards and patient handouts covering hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, thyroid nodules, thyroid carcinoma, radioiodine therapy, the thyroid, pregnancy and infancy can do so by contacting the AACE public & media relations department at (904) 353-7878 or by email at gwillis@aace.com.
